There should now be about 7 feet of line past the front tip. With your free hand, grasp the line between the reel and the first rod guide and straighten your arm to the side. As with any other campground in the area you must be careful to put all food away at night. It was nice to be able to lock it in each time to guarantee our reservation for the next year.
My only complaint is that we are no longer able to reserve our same spots and dates for the following year upon leaving at the end of the weekend. The general store is very convenient and the staff is always friendly. Again, the facilities are not the greatest (but they have improved TREMENDOUSLY over the last 15-20 years, especially the showers). Its one of my favorite childhood memories and I highly recommend bringing your family here as well. In the evening we have a huge bonfire and set up a telescope on the beach to view the stars. It works out perfectly for all my aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents and we have a blast waking up to the sounds of the lake and spending our days swimming, hiking, boating and playing horseshoes. We try to reserve 4 conjoined lake front spots the second weekend in July each year. It isn't a very fancy campground, but the lake is gorgeous and we have always enjoyed our stay. I've been coming to this campground annually for over 30 years.
